WASA Lahore secures $350,000 EU grant for water training

Lahore: Water and Sanitation Agency Lahore, led by Managing Director Ghufran Ahmed, has reportedly been selected as an international training and mentoring utility under the Global Water Operators’ Partnerships Alliance. According to the Punjab government, the European Union has approved WASA Lahore’s proposal for a 24-month Water Operators’ Partnership project and will provide a $350,000 grant. Under the programme, WASA Lahore will collaborate with a Portuguese water utility to strengthen the institutional and technical capacity of WASA Kasur and WASA Chiniot. The project will focus on professional training, knowledge exchange, technical assistance and the adoption of relevant international practices. The EU-funded programme is managed by the Global Water Operators’ Partnerships Alliance Secretariat at UN-Habitat.
