Chinese Delegation Eyes Joint Water Projects With WASA Lahore

Lahore: A Chinese delegation led by Member of the National Assembly Malik Saif-ul-Malook Khokhar visited the WASA Lahore head office, where Vice Chairman Chaudhry Shahbaz Ahmad and Managing Director Ghufran Ahmed received the delegation. Malik Saif-ul-Malook Khokhar is the elected MNA from NA-126 Lahore-X, according to the National Assembly record.

During the meeting, MD WASA Ghufran Ahmed briefed the delegation on Lahore’s major water-management initiatives, including surface water treatment, groundwater recharge wells, underground water storage tanks and water-conservation projects. WASA Lahore has publicly pursued these areas as part of its long-term shift toward more sustainable water management and reduced dependence on groundwater.

The Chinese delegation appreciated WASA Lahore’s modern water-management and sustainable-infrastructure initiatives and expressed interest in future cooperation and possible joint projects. This should be treated as an expression of interest, not as a signed investment agreement or approved joint venture at this stage.
