Lahore: The Lahore High Court has sought a detailed report from the Deputy Commissioner Lahore and Director General LDA on a petition filed against the proposed demolition of shops in the Neela Gumbad Cycle Market.
Justice Ahmad Nadeem Arshad heard the petition filed by Muhammad Zaki Munir and five other shopkeepers. According to the petitioners, their shops are located away from the under-construction Neela Gumbad parking plaza, but they fear the administration intends to demolish their properties as well.
The petitioners also told the court that ongoing construction and blocked access routes around the parking-plaza project are already affecting their businesses. They have asked the court to restrain the administration from demolishing their shops.

The dispute comes against the backdrop of the wider Neela Gumbad redevelopment. Earlier plans called for removal of around 100 Cycle Market shops as part of restoration works, while Rs620 million was approved for compensation to affected shopkeepers.
The adjoining underground parking plaza is also an active development project, with its multi-basement structure previously reported as being under construction.
