Lahore: Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique has said the geofencing of door-to-door waste collection operations under Suthra Punjab is nearing completion. During a performance review of district Suthra Punjab agencies at the Civil Secretariat, officials were told that geo-mapping data will be connected with the programme’s digital monitoring system to identify service gaps and improve waste collection at union-council level.
The minister also directed authorities to arrange megaphone announcements on loader rickshaws for waste collection and display the names and contact details of workers and monitors in every operational beat so residents can contact the relevant team when problems arise.
District managing directors and tehsil managers were instructed to inspect beats daily, while Zeeshan Rafique warned that poor performance would not result in action against field workers alone — officers could also face disciplinary action. Anti-littering and public-awareness measures were also reviewed.
An earlier official APP update on September 1 reported that mapping of 1,992 union councils had already been completed with PITB support, showing how far the geofencing programme had progressed before the latest review. The same update said action on public complaints through the digital system had reached a reported 96%.
