Islamabad: Pakistan’s electric vehicle and energy sectors are expected to receive a significant boost as three large-scale lithium-ion battery manufacturing facilities enter the commissioning phase. The development is being viewed as a strategic step toward supporting electric vehicle adoption from the third quarter of 2027 while improving the utilization of the country’s more than 46,000 MW electricity generation capacity. Increased local battery production could reduce reliance on imported fuels, strengthen energy security, and support the transition toward cleaner transportation. The project may also encourage industrial investment, technology transfer, and new economic opportunities across the manufacturing sector. Stronger energy infrastructure often supports commercial growth and urban development. Could domestic battery production become a catalyst for Pakistan’s next phase of industrial modernization?
