Gharo: BYD’s $150 million vehicle manufacturing facility in Gharo, Sindh is nearing completion, marking a significant milestone for Pakistan’s automotive sector. The plant is expected to have an annual production capacity of 25,000 vehicles and will support the local assembly of BYD vehicles in the country. Officials believe the project will create substantial employment opportunities, strengthen industrial activity, and encourage technology transfer within Pakistan’s manufacturing ecosystem. The investment is also expected to stimulate economic growth in Sindh and support the development of supporting industries, logistics networks, and supply chains. As global automakers expand their presence in Pakistan, could this project accelerate the country’s transition toward a more advanced automotive industry?
