Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has handed over 50 electric vehicles to Islamabad Police for the newly established Capital Patrol force, aimed at promoting modern, safe and environment-friendly policing. The new force will comprise 200 personnel, with each patrol unit including one male and one female officer. Motorcycle personnel will also be deployed for rapid response and effective patrolling. All Capital Patrol officers will wear body cameras to improve transparency, monitoring and accountability. Officials said the electric fleet could save approximately Rs34 million in monthly fuel costs. The prime minister said Islamabad Police should become a role model for other cities through improved technology, equipment and public services.
