Pakistan IT Exports Hit Record $4.6bn as 872 New Tech Firms Register

Islamabad: Pakistan’s ICT export earnings reached an all-time high of $4.6 billion in FY2025-26, rising about 20.6% year-on-year, according to official figures reported by APP. The sector also generated a record $3.9 billion trade surplus, strengthening its position as Pakistan’s largest services-export segment.

An important correction to the earlier figures: the 19.7% growth and $2.91 billion trade surplus refer to the July–March FY2025-26 period, when ICT exports stood at $3.38 billion. The final full-year numbers are now higher at $4.6 billion exports and $3.9 billion surplus.

Pakistan’s tech business base is also expanding. In August 2026, the IT sector led all new company registrations with 872 incorporations, as SECP reported 4,761 new companies across Pakistan during the month.

Pakistan is simultaneously pushing its technology companies into overseas markets. At LEAP 2026 in Riyadh, the government’s Tech Destination Pakistan Pavilion featured 25 startups and 50 established Pakistani technology companies, with the official objective of building B2B partnerships, attracting investment and expanding access to international markets.

Federal IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja has also said Pakistan’s broader digital transformation is being supported through government policy and the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), alongside measures aimed at connectivity, digital infrastructure and technology-sector competitiveness.
