Sindh Launches Crackdown on Wheat Hoarding and Illegal Profiteering

The Sindh government has launched a province-wide crackdown against wheat hoarding and illegal profiteering in an effort to maintain a stable wheat supply and prevent artificial price increases in local markets. District administrations have reportedly been directed to take strict action against those involved in unlawfully storing wheat or exploiting market conditions for excessive profits.

The campaign is aimed at protecting consumers, improving market oversight and ensuring the availability of an essential food commodity at fair prices. Action against hoarding can also help authorities identify artificial supply shortages that may place additional financial pressure on households. The provincial drive highlights the government’s focus on food security and price control, with district-level enforcement expected to play a key role in implementing the campaign.
