Lahore dairy prices exceed official rates as citizens demand strict action

Lahore: The district administration appears unable to enforce official dairy prices in the city’s open market, as citizens complain that milk and yogurt are being sold well above notified rates. According to market observations from areas including DHA, Iqbal Town, Township, Green Town, and other localities, milk is reportedly being sold between Rs. 200 and Rs. 240 per litre, while yogurt is being sold around Rs. 240 to Rs. 260 per kilogram despite the official rate being lower. Citizens say dairy products are a basic household need and demand stronger price monitoring. Rising food costs affect household budgets, market confidence, rental affordability, and urban living pressure. Will authorities ensure fair pricing for consumers?
