Lahore: The Punjab government and the Naan Roti Association have yet to reach an agreement on official roti prices. While the government has fixed the rate of a 100-gram roti at Rs14, bakers argue that rising flour costs, gas load shedding, and operational expenses make it unsustainable. The association has demanded an increase to at least Rs20, but authorities have rejected the proposal and directed strict implementation of the official rate. In practice, however, roti is being sold between Rs15 to Rs20 in many areas, often with reduced weight. Citizens claim that official price controls are not being enforced effectively, raising concerns about market regulation.
