Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s official social media account said the Lahore Metro Bus service continues to operate without disruption, rejecting circulating claims about the public transport facility as misleading. The statement follows an earlier notice from private operator VEDA warning that Metro Bus operations could be suspended from August 11 because of an unresolved fuel-supply and financial dispute with the Punjab Masstransit Authority. However, the threatened shutdown was subsequently put on hold after renewed talks between VEDA and PMA, and the 27-kilometre Metro Bus route was reported operating on its regular schedule on August 11. Negotiations over the underlying fuel arrangement were still continuing, with no permanent settlement publicly confirmed at the time of reporting.
