Punjab Food Authority Continues Star Rating Programme for Restaurants

Lahore: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) continues to operate its Star Rating Programme for restaurants and eateries, assessing establishments on food quality, hygiene and safety standards. The authority’s official programme page says the system is designed in line with international standards to help consumers make more informed dining choices. PFA’s official Star Rating application also evaluates restaurants on factors including food safety, cleanliness, management, service, washrooms, appearance and audit performance; the app was updated in July 2026. Importantly, this is not an entirely new programme: PFA first launched the initiative as a pilot in January 2022, initially targeting 250 restaurants in major Punjab cities.
