Revised Rs. 53 Billion Cost of Rawalpindi Ring Road Awaits Final Approval

The revised cost of the Rawalpindi Ring Road project, increased to Rs. 53 billion, is awaiting final approval following a planned inspection by the Punjab Planning and Development Board. Officials said the updated PC-I was reviewed in a pre-Punjab Development Working Party (PDWP) meeting, where several observations were raised. The cost escalation has been attributed to a sharp rise in construction material prices over the past three years, expanded bridge widths with additional flood-protection stone pitching, inclusion of toll plazas, and remodeling of the Thalian Interchange. According to Rawalpindi Development Authority, construction is progressing on a fast track and remains within the approved timeline. The project site will be inspected before a final decision is taken.
