Punjab Finalizes Rs.100 Billion Local Roads Development Plan

The Punjab government has finalized a comprehensive local and link roads development programme with an allocation of Rs. 100 billion, following directions from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Under the plan, the Communications and Works Department will rehabilitate and upgrade 1,529 roads across all districts of the province, covering a total length of 3,307 kilometres. Construction work is scheduled to begin in the first week of February 2026. Punjab Minister for C&W Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth said the initiative will significantly improve travel facilities, especially in rural areas, while supporting economic activity and safer transportation for millions of residents across Punjab.
