Construction has officially begun on Lahore’s first floating restaurant along the historic Lahore Canal, marking a major step in the city’s tourism and recreational development. The project is expected to be completed by June of the current financial year. To support the structure, authorities are increasing the canal’s depth from 7 feet to 13 feet and widening it to 30 feet. The project is being executed by HRD, with NESPAK serving as the consultant, while the Irrigation Department oversees technical aspects. According to the Parks and Horticulture Authority, the three-storey floating restaurant will accommodate around 80 diners and enhance Lahore’s visual appeal. The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 4.9 billion.
