Punjab’s Rs61bn model village plan targets 485 rural communities

Lahore: The Punjab government has included the Model Village Project in the next financial year’s budget, aiming to upgrade 485 villages across the province through the Local Government Department. According to the presentation given to the Chief Minister, the project will cost Rs. 61.12 billion, while Provincial Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique has been assigned responsibility for fast execution. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed authorities to complete at least 40 villages on priority. The plan includes clean streets and drains, water supply lines, sanitation and drainage systems, streetlights, sports facilities for children, and a proper cleanliness mechanism.
