Punjab’s Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Programme has reached a major housing milestone, with 134,343 houses completed and nearly 27,500 more homes approaching completion. According to the latest figures shared by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s official social media account, loans have already been provided to 170,000 families, while Rs217.8 billion has been released under the housing initiative.
Recent reporting on the programme states that interest-free loans have been approved for more than 180,000 homeless families, with funds disbursed to 170,000 beneficiaries. The initiative is aimed at helping low-income families construct homes on their own land and reducing financial barriers to home ownership.
The official Apni Chhat Apna Ghar portal describes the programme as an affordable housing initiative for low-income families in Punjab. The latest progress figures indicate a significant expansion of the scheme, placing housing construction and interest-free financing among the Punjab government’s major public welfare priorities.
