Skardu Airport gets Rs900m upgrade to boost Gilgit-Baltistan tourism

Skardu: The Pakistan Airports Authority has launched a Rs. 900 million expansion and renovation project at Skardu International Airport to improve passenger facilities and support the fast-growing tourism sector in Gilgit-Baltistan. The project aims to upgrade airport infrastructure, enhance travel convenience, and manage increasing passenger traffic as Skardu becomes one of Pakistan’s most important tourist destinations. Better airport facilities can attract more domestic and international visitors, improve regional connectivity, and support hotels, transport services, restaurants, local businesses, and property investment around key tourism zones. For Gilgit-Baltistan, stronger aviation infrastructure can directly improve economic activity and investor confidence. Can this upgrade make Skardu a stronger gateway for mountain tourism?
