Punjab to hire security guards for 1,490 government schools

Lahore: The Punjab government has decided to hire security guards for 1,490 government schools across the province to strengthen safety arrangements for students and staff. According to details, these guards will be recruited against posts created after the abolition of 1,490 Class-IV positions. Faisalabad will receive the highest number, with guards planned for 226 schools, while Lahore will have security guards for 150 schools. No separate salary budget will be allocated; instead, District Education Authorities and school heads will be responsible for payments. The Finance Department has issued a formal letter regarding the arrangement. Improved school security can boost parental confidence, protect public assets, and strengthen community trust. Will this step make government schools safer?
