Punjab authorities have intensified efforts to curb property tax evasion by identifying property units that have remained outside the tax net. The Excise Department had ordered checks of units not included in property tax records, with reports stating that 46,000 units were added to the tax net in Lahore within three months and around 120,000 units across Punjab by October 2025. Punjab also moved towards a whistle-blower mechanism under proposed property tax amendments, offering rewards where credible information leads to the detection of tax evasion and recovery of penalties. The measures indicate a broader push to improve property records, identify untaxed units and strengthen revenue collection. Property owners may face greater scrutiny as authorities expand enforcement and verification of urban properties.
