Lahore: Punjab has begun preparations to improve and beautify around 6,500 acres of green areas across 20 districts on the directions of the Punjab Chief Minister. The plan was reviewed in a meeting chaired by Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister Bilal Yasin.
According to the briefing, the province’s 20 horticulture agencies collectively manage about 6,500 acres of green space. Authorities have been directed to focus on better maintenance, landscaping and improvement of nursery standards.
Bilal Yasin also proposed replacing conventional horticulture practices with modern machinery and technology, while revenue collection of horticulture agencies is planned to be digitalised. The government also wants more effective park mapping, machinery tracking, food streets and recreational facilities.
The initiative follows broader efforts to strengthen Punjab’s horticulture system; earlier in 2026, the Punjab Horticulture Authority also reviewed policies for protecting public parks, green areas and trees across the province.
