Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated a new mobile veterinary fleet aimed at taking livestock treatment and diagnostic services directly to farmers, particularly in rural areas. The launch is also confirmed by Punjab government’s DGPR and Radio Pakistan.
Officials said 30 additional mobile veterinary dispensaries and 17 mobile veterinary laboratories have been launched — a total of 47 new mobile units. The dispensaries include ultrasound and X-ray facilities, while mobile laboratories can conduct up to 40 diagnostic tests on-site and support livestock disease screening and surveillance.
The provincial plan also includes 6,964 motorbike-based veterinary assistants to reach farmers at their premises. Under the CM Internship Programme, around 1,000 veterinary doctors and assistants have reportedly treated 3.4 million animals across Punjab.
The government also plans to construct or rehabilitate 230 veterinary hospitals at tehsil level, while model veterinary hospitals will include modern operation theatres and specialised livestock-handling facilities.
