Nationwide early market closure enforced to reduce power load

Islamabad: A nationwide directive has been implemented requiring markets to close early starting April 6 in an effort to reduce electricity demand and prevent energy shortages. Authorities stated that peak evening consumption significantly strains the national grid, increasing the risk of outages during summer months. Under the new policy, shops will close by 8 PM to balance load and ensure stable power supply for essential services such as hospitals and residential areas. Business owners have been advised to adjust operating hours accordingly, while some may apply for special exemptions under local regulations. Officials emphasized that the measure is aimed at energy conservation and minimizing the likelihood of widespread blackouts.
