Johar Town filtration plant shut for four years

Lahore: A water filtration plant installed in Block B of Johar Town has remained non-operational for the past four years, leaving local residents deprived of clean drinking water. With rising temperatures and growing water shortages, the situation has become more serious, forcing many families to buy water at high prices. Residents said the closure of the plant has badly affected access to safe drinking water, while missing taps and piles of garbage inside the premises reflect administrative neglect. Locals claim they have repeatedly lodged complaints with the relevant authorities, but no effective action has been taken so far. The issue not only affects public health but also raises concerns about urban service delivery in a major residential area. Will the authorities act before the crisis worsens further?
