High-voltage wires in Mochi Gate market pose safety risk to traders

Lahore: High-voltage electricity wires passing directly in front of shops in the main market of Mochi Gate have raised serious safety concerns among local traders. Shopkeepers say the issue has persisted for nearly six years, posing continuous risks to life and property. According to them, the wires contain multiple cuts and joints that can emit current during rain or strong winds. Traders claim the cables run dangerously close to shopfronts instead of being safely elevated. They also reported that a shopkeeper was previously affected by electric shock. Business owners say customers avoid stopping in the area due to fear, hurting commercial activity. They have urged authorities to immediately relocate the hazardous wiring.
