Daducha Dam Construction Reaches 60%, Rawalpindi Water Relief Moves Closer

Rawalpindi: Construction of the Daducha Dam has reached approximately 60 percent, marking significant progress on the major water infrastructure project. According to an official briefing, work on the main dam is 39 percent complete, spillways have reached 62 percent, general dam works stand at 78 percent, while the cofferdam and water-diversion arrangements have been completed. The project carries an estimated cost of Rs52.73 billion and is currently scheduled for completion in 2029. Separately, WASA is planning the infrastructure required to supply around 35 million gallons of water daily from the dam to Rawalpindi city and cantonment areas, which could help address the region’s growing water shortage.
