Steering committee reviews DISCO privatization progress

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee overseeing the privatization of DISCOs, including IESCO, FESCO, and GEPCO under Batch-I. The committee was briefed on the latest progress and expressed satisfaction, advising the Privatization Commission to complete the process within agreed timelines. The DPM emphasized that privatization should enhance efficiency, service delivery, and financial sustainability, while a robust regulatory framework and strict oversight remain essential to protect consumer interests, ensure transparency, and maintain accountability. Officials from the Ministry of Power and related departments also attended the meeting.
