Rawalpindi Declares Flood Emergency from June 15 to September 15 Amid Monsoon

Rawalpindi has declared a flood emergency from June 15 to September 15 due to forecasts of above-normal monsoon rainfall and heightened risk of urban flooding. A central flood monitoring control room will operate under Army supervision, while the 111 Brigade will remain on high alert throughout the season. Civil Defence and Rescue 1122 teams will conduct flood rescue drills after Eid, and emergency hand-operated sirens will be deployed in vulnerable areas. Authorities have also planned five relief camps and ordered the cleaning of Leh Nullah and major storm drains before the monsoon begins. Residents are advised to remain cautious and follow official guidance to stay safe during heavy rains and flash floods.
