Punjab to abolish property file system in Lahore to ensure transparency

Lahore: The Punjab government has decided to abolish the property file system in Lahore as part of major reforms aimed at increasing transparency and eliminating fraud in the real estate sector. The decision was taken in a high-level meeting chaired by Provincial Minister for Housing Bilal Yasin under the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Authorities announced that all property transactions will now be linked with the Housing Schemes Management System (HSMS), ensuring verification through location-based identification and PLRA-issued documents instead of paper files. Officials stated that similar legal amendments will also be introduced in LDA, Local Government, RUDA and other departments. The reforms aim to prevent illegal plots, fake files and financial scams, while improving investor confidence and ensuring secure property transactions across Punjab.
