Punjab targets strict lane discipline, zero tolerance on traffic violations

Ali Raza Wajid: Lahore: Punjab government, under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has set a strict target to ensure lane and line discipline across major cities, with Lahore roads to be developed as model corridors. Traffic police have been directed to monitor violations through mobile cameras, while zigzag driving may lead to motorcycles being impounded for three days. Zero tolerance has been announced for one-way violations, illegal parking, and lane breaches. Over 500,000 challans and more than 100,000 vehicle seizures in the past six months highlight the ongoing crackdown. This initiative under the Mobility Cluster aims to transform traffic behavior and ensure safer roads. For Lahore residents, stricter enforcement could reshape daily commuting. Will these measures finally fix Lahore’s traffic chaos?
