Lahore: The Punjab Mass Transit Authority has abolished the token and old transit card system for the Orange Line Metro Train, Metro Bus and Speedo Bus services, replacing them with a fully digital fare payment system. Commuters can now pay fares using the T-Cash Card, the official mobile application and ATM/debit cards. According to Mass Transit Authority In-charge Uzair Shah, the remaining balance on discontinued transit cards will not be refunded. Passengers returning their old cards will receive only the Rs130 security deposit and have been instructed to submit the cards at designated transit stations. Following the announcement, some commuters expressed concerns, claiming that old cards were still being recharged at certain locations despite the transition and that advance notice of the policy change was insufficient.
