Lahore: The Punjab government has prepared a plan to launch Phase III of the Lahore Development Program to upgrade remaining underserved areas of the city. According to the proposal, the Local Government Department has sought Rs10 billion from the Finance Department for the upcoming budget to improve sewerage systems, pave roads and streets, construct drains, and install streetlights in Lahore’s peripheral and neglected areas. The scheme has reportedly been sent to the Planning and Development Department for further processing. If approved in the next budget, the project could improve mobility, sanitation, public safety, and basic urban facilities across several localities. Could this new phase finally address long-pending civic gaps in Lahore’s expanding neighborhoods?
