Lahore: Punjab Safe Cities Authority has intensified its AI-powered crackdown on vehicles using fake, cloned, tampered or concealed number plates. Advanced surveillance cameras automatically identify suspicious plates, including those whose numbers have been altered or hidden with tape, cloth or other methods, and immediately generate alerts. Vehicle details are then shared with the nearest field police teams for interception and legal action. According to PSCA data, more than 100 vehicles carrying fake, cloned or suspicious number plates were intercepted during July alone through AI-based monitoring. Authorities have warned motorists that using a fake plate, altering registration numbers or deliberately hiding an original plate is illegal and can result in fines as well as registration of a criminal case.
