Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed authorities to conduct surveys of dilapidated and unsafe buildings in every city immediately after the monsoon season. Chairing a special meeting to review the Punjab Development Programme, she also ordered early completion of Phase One and sought a case study along with impact assessment reports on sewerage and drainage projects. Authorities were further directed to compile public feedback on the programme. The meeting reviewed development works across multiple cities and was informed that underground storage tanks are fully operational in 29 cities, while construction continues in another 21. The chief minister said new sewerage systems have brought visible improvements in rainwater drainage in several cities and appreciated district administrations, WASA and Suthra Punjab teams for their performance during the monsoon.
