Punjab Cabinet approves Rs1.1bn weapons and safety equipment for Katcha police

Lahore: The Punjab Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif in its 36th meeting, approved Rs. 1.1 billion for weapons and protective equipment for police personnel deployed in the Katcha areas. The cabinet also approved a hard area allowance for officers and personnel serving in these difficult and high-risk locations. The decision is aimed at strengthening police operational capacity, improving personnel safety, and providing additional financial support to teams involved in challenging law-enforcement duties. Better equipment and incentives are expected to improve morale and help police respond more effectively to criminal activity in riverine areas.
