Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz rejects water charges, orders free clean drinking water supply

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired a special meeting on the Punjab Saaf Pani Authority, where officials presented a detailed briefing on the Clean Drinking Water Project. The chief minister rejected the initial proposal to impose charges on bottled drinking water and directed authorities to ensure free and timely access to clean water for every citizen. She also ordered the acceleration of household water delivery arrangements and the early completion of water filtration projects across Punjab. The initiative aims to improve public health, reduce dependence on unsafe water sources, and strengthen access to a basic civic service.
