Punjab launches ‘Rehmat Card’ for widows and orphans support

Lahore: The Punjab government has approved the launch of the “Chief Minister Punjab Rehmat Card”, a welfare initiative aimed at supporting widows and orphaned children through a transparent digital system. Under the programme, eligible families will receive financial assistance of up to Rs100,000, while orphaned children will receive Rs25,000 each. In the first phase, more than 50,000 vulnerable households are expected to benefit. Officials said the project will begin immediately after Eid and applications can be submitted through a mobile application, web portal, call centre or Zakat offices. Authorities stated the initiative aims to provide dignified state support and encourage financial independence for affected families.
