Punjab establishes Spatial Planning Authority for GPS-based monitoring of construction

Lahore: The Punjab government has established the Punjab Spatial Planning Authority (PSPA) to introduce GPS-based monitoring of construction activities across the province. Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique said the authority represents a new model of technological governance under the Digital Punjab vision. All district master plans have been integrated, with zoning completed for commercial, industrial and agricultural land. Through satellite monitoring and the Planning Support System (PSS), illegal constructions and encroachments will be identified in real time. Residential project applications will be processed online and linked with the Punjab government’s e-Biz portal. Officials stated that the system will enhance transparency, streamline approvals and ensure better urban planning and land-use management.
