Punjab amends land law, partition cases to be decided faster

Punjab: The government has introduced major amendments to the Punjab Land Revenue Act 1967 to speed up land partition cases. Officials stated that under the new changes, decisions that previously took years will now be finalized within months. Authorities highlighted that the right to file a second appeal in land partition cases has been completely abolished. Now, only one appeal can be filed before the District Collector (Deputy Commissioner), whose decision will be final. All pending appeals at commissioner and additional deputy commissioner offices have been ordered to be transferred to the Board of Revenue.Experts believe these reforms will reduce delays, improve efficiency in land matters and bring more clarity to property ownership disputes.
