Peshawar: The Hazar Khwani Overpass has entered its final stages of development under the Peshawar Revitalization Plan, marking another major step toward improving traffic movement and urban connectivity in the provincial capital.
The project is being developed at the Hazar Khwani Interchange on Peshawar Ring Road. Earlier official reporting confirms that it is a six-lane overpass with an estimated cost of approximately Rs1.257 billion. Its foundation stone was laid by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi in June 2026.
The project forms part of a wider effort to improve Peshawar’s transport infrastructure through flyovers, underpasses, road improvements and other urban facilities. The provincial government has said these interventions are intended to reduce congestion and improve mobility across major traffic corridors.
The initiative is being pursued under the leadership of Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi and Provincial Minister for Local Government and Higher Education Meena Khan Afridi, whose current portfolios are confirmed by official provincial sources.
