PDMA Punjab DG reviews flood and emergency preparations in Jhelum

Jhelum: On the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, DG PDMA Punjab Umar Abbas Mela visited Jhelum to review relief camps, rescue arrangements, urban flooding risks, drainage, desilting, and emergency preparations. During the visit, he assessed the readiness of field teams and directed all concerned departments to remain fully alert in view of monsoon rains and possible flood situations. Officials were instructed to ensure timely coordination, active response teams, functional drainage systems, and proper arrangements at relief camps. Strong disaster preparedness can reduce risks to citizens, roads, housing areas, agriculture, and local infrastructure. Can timely monitoring help Jhelum avoid major flood-related losses this monsoon?
