Islamabad: Pakistan’s seafood exports reached a record $568 million during FY2025-26, marking the highest annual export earnings ever achieved by the country’s fisheries sector. Official figures show frozen fish remained the top export product, while squid, cuttlefish, fish meal, shrimp, and crabs also played a major role in the growth. Pakistan’s seafood was exported to major markets including China, Thailand, Malaysia, the UAE, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and the United States. Officials linked the strong performance to better quality standards, tighter regulation, and exporters’ continued efforts despite regional shipping disruptions. Rising seafood exports strengthen Pakistan’s blue economy, boost foreign exchange, support port activity, and encourage investment in processing and logistics. Can this momentum unlock broader coastal economic growth?
