Lahore blocks uncovered sand vehicles over pollution

Ali Raza Wajid : Lahore: CTO Lahore Abdul Rahim Sherazi has ordered a major crackdown to control environmental pollution in the city. Vehicles carrying sand, soil, husk, and similar material without proper covering will not be allowed to enter Lahore. Checkpoints have been set up at all entry and exit points for enforcement. Cases will also be registered against vehicles without fitness certificates, smoke-emitting vehicles, and vehicles carrying iron rods, T-iron, or other metal items outside the body frame. DSPs have been directed to supervise the operation personally. The move matters because pollution control improves public health, road safety, and urban living standards. Cleaner transport movement can also protect commercial areas, housing zones, and property demand. Can strict enforcement reduce Lahore’s pollution pressure?
