Kutchery Chowk project cost rises to Rs 19 billion in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi: The cost of the Kutchery Chowk remodelling project has been revised from Rs 14 billion to Rs 19 billion, with authorities preparing to seek approval through an updated PC-I. Officials stated that the increase is due to additional infrastructure elements, including new pedestrian bridges, expanded road networks, and relocation of utility services into dedicated corridors. Land acquisition at market rates for road widening has also contributed significantly to the higher cost. Minor design adjustments have been introduced to improve traffic flow, including widening of roads, underpasses, and flyovers. The project, which is over 80 percent complete, also includes drainage and horticulture improvements to enhance sustainability and urban resilience.
