Karachi routes closed amid development work

Karachi: Authorities have temporarily closed the service road from Mosmiyat to NEPA and the route from Jail Road to Mazar-e-Quaid due to ongoing development work. Commuters have been advised to use alternate routes and expect possible congestion in surrounding areas as construction activities continue. Officials say the closures are part of infrastructure improvement efforts aimed at enhancing traffic flow, road conditions, and urban mobility across the city. The temporary disruption may affect daily commuting, public transport movement, commercial access, and nearby business activity. However, if completed efficiently, the development work can improve road capacity, reduce long-term congestion, and support property accessibility in connected urban corridors. Can timely completion reduce Karachi’s traffic pressure?
