Iran shifts trade routes to Pakistan ports boosting regional logistics

Islamabad: Iran is reportedly shifting a significant portion of its trade logistics from the UAE to Pakistan, utilizing key ports including Gwadar, Karachi, and Port Qasim under new transit arrangements. The initiative allows third-country goods to move through Pakistan into Iran via border routes such as Gabad and Taftan, strengthening regional connectivity. This development under the Investment & Global Cooperation Cluster reflects growing strategic cooperation between Islamabad and Tehran. For Lahore and Punjab businesses, improved trade routes can reduce logistics costs and open new import-export opportunities. Analysts believe this shift could enhance Pakistan’s role in regional supply chains. Will this move boost Pakistan’s trade economy?
