GT Road heavy traffic banned for Bunyan-ul-Marsoos event

Islamabad: The federal government has imposed a 24-hour restriction on heavy vehicles on GT Road due to the annual Bunyan-ul-Marsoos programme, starting from midnight on May 9 and continuing until midnight on May 10. Authorities said no heavy vehicle will be allowed to enter the Islamabad and Rawalpindi section of GT Road during the restriction period, while heavy traffic entering Punjab through Attock Bridge will also be blocked. Transport operators have been advised to park vehicles at safe locations and avoid the route. The move aims to maintain smooth traffic flow, reduce congestion and support public safety during event days. Such traffic planning can protect urban mobility, business movement and commuter confidence. Will this ensure safer travel during the programme?
