Government to Shut Down Imran Khan’s Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme

Islamabad – The Pakistani government has decided to officially close NAPHDA, the housing authority established in 2020 under former Prime Minister Imran Khan to provide affordable homes for low-income families. Following a review of its operations, authorities determined that NAPHDA had not met its intended targets, prompting the government to approve legislation for its closure. The focus will now shift to a new initiative, the “Apna Ghar Programme,” which aims to facilitate low-cost homeownership through financing and loan support. Officials say this move seeks to enhance efficiency, ensure better resource utilization, and expand access to affordable housing across the country for deserving citizens.
