Federal Government Approves Modern Northern Motorway with Babusar Tunnel

Islamabad: The federal government has approved a new modern motorway route connecting Mansehra, Kaghan, Naran, Jhal Khand, and Chilas (MNJC), aimed at providing a safer alternative to the Karakoram Highway. The project, approved by Federal Minister for Communications Aleem Khan, includes major infrastructure upgrades along the route. A key feature is the 13.5-kilometer Babusar Tunnel, which will become Pakistan’s longest tunnel. The motorway is expected to improve travel safety and connectivity in northern Pakistan, especially through difficult mountainous terrain, and boost tourism and trade. How will this project transform northern travel and regional economic activity?
